In order to link a new housing development in Glenbervie on the Eastern side of Whangarei with the well known Whangarei falls recreational area, a new footbridge was required to bridge a small stream in a steep bush clad gulley. The project was particularly challenging due to the nature of the terrain and required a technical piling operation to support the main bridge structure. The bridge itself was constructed using a mix of structural steel and engineered timber.
